Charger rebates and support for multi-unit residential buildings 

Make charging an electric vehicle (EV) easier for yourself or building residents. Get rebates and support to plan for and install EV chargers at your multi-unit residential building (MURB).

Eligibility details

Who can apply:

  • Building owner
  • Authorized representative
  • Unit owner
  • Renter

The building must be:

  • Located in B.C. 
  • An apartment, condo or townhouse with 5 or more units per complex
  • The occupant’s primary residence 
  • Constructed on or before August 31, 2022 
  • Not used for short term rentals, like hotels

Renters and unit owners living in single-family homes can apply for a home charger rebate.

Costs incurred before approval are not eligible for reimbursement.

EV Ready rebates for building owners and authorized representatives

EV Ready plan rebate:

  • Get back 75 percent of eligible costs
  • Support to create a building-wide plan to make parking spaces ready for EV chargers
  • Maximum of one EV Ready plan per MURB

EV Ready infrastructure rebate:

  • Get back 50 percent of eligible costs
  • Supports implementing your EV Ready plan
  • Indigenous-owned MURBS can get back 75 percent of eligible costs

MURB charger rebate:

  • Get back 50 percent of eligible costs
  • For MURBs that got the EV Ready infrastructure rebate

Standalone MURB charger rebates

  • Get back 50 percent of eligible costs
  • Indigenous-owned MURBs or Indigenous individuals living in MURBs can get back 75 percent of eligible costs
  • Charger rebates for MURB owners and representatives are capped annually at $14,000

Unit owners and renters

You are limited to one rebate over the program’s lifetime. 

Your building owner or representative can submit a combined rebate application if a group of residents would like to apply. Combined applications are linked to the building address and fall into the MURBs annual rebate limit.
