People and businesses in B.C. can get rebates on eligible electric cars, trucks, vans and SUVs.
Electric vehicles (EVs) can also be called zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). A ZEV is a vehicle that has the potential to produce no tailpipe emissions. They can still have a conventional internal combustion engine but must also be able to operate without using it.
These categories are different members of the EV family:
BEV – Battery-electric vehicle | Powered 100% by electric batteries |
PHEV – Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle | Has an electric motor as well as a gasoline engine |
ER-EV – Extended-range electric vehicle | Has an electric motor and a battery that is recharged by a combination of electricity and gas |
FCEV – Fuel-cell electric vehicle | 100% powered by hydrogen |
Regular hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) that do not plug-in are not considered ZEVs or EVs.
* Automakers provide a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) when they apply to make their vehicles eligible for rebates. MSRPs listed do not include any fees that are part of the sale of a vehicle. They also do not include the cost of any optional accessories. Vehicle prices change often. Refer to automaker or dealer website for up-to-date prices. Vehicle information is about the most recent model listed. Other model years may vary.
